8 Weeks!

I am now officially 8 weeks along this pregnancy journey! It really has not felt much like a journey up to this point though. We are still holding off on telling our friends for another 4 weeks or so. Maybe once we can start telling people it will feel even more real. Don't get me wrong, I have been feeling the nausea and fatigue, just like all the articles said I would. I am extremely thankful that I have not actually thrown up or anything yet. Foods are not all that appealing to me but I keep eating. These next 5 weeks will be busy ones due to the fact that I am finishing up my semester of schooling. I have a lot to do. I have to present my formal reading lesson as well as a PE/Health lesson this month. May really cannot get here soon enough. On top of feeling sick and the never ending school work, I have not been sleeping well. Not sleeping for me is very strange. I am the one who takes 3 hour naps on Sunday afternoons and now I can even get a good nights sleep...I didn't think that was suppose to happen for 5 more months!! I must say I am very grateful for these uncomfortable feelings because in my mind things are happening and our baby is growing, so of course it is worth it. I also feel I must say that I have been truly blessed with the most wonderful patient husband. Seriously! Jeremy has been phenomenal. Jeremy lets me sleep in the mornings as long as I can. He makes my breakfast and my lunch. He has taken on the duty of our laundry and house cleaning as well. Thanks to him I am able to focus on my school and get rest when possible.

If you are wondering what is going on with the baby, here you go!

Our baby is now 5/8 of an inch long, about the size of a kidney bean. New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from our baby's hands and feet, eyelids practically cover the eyes, breathing tubes extend from the throat to the branches of the developing lungs, and the "tail" is just about gone. Baby's arms have lengthened, too, and hands are now flexed at the wrist and meet over the heart. Baby's knee joints have formed, and the feet may be long enough to meet in front of the body. In baby's brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways.
